The first job I felt like I was contributing was as an 18-year-old at Curves for Women. I would take measurements, lead people through the circuit and encourage them before, during and after their workout. I LOVED IT! I witnessed transformations both spiritually and physically. I formed friendships with women from all walks of life.
In college, I was a cardio groove addict - this awesome hip hop dance class at the rec center. I was in training to teach the class when I broke my foot a week before taking over.
Fitness, nutrition + emotional connection has been a part of me since I can remember. In high school I was a gymnastics captain, cheerleader, softball and soccer player. I felt this need to inspire the girls I was on teams with and that turned into several "Most Inspirational" awards. I accepted those awards while shaking the coaches hand with a huge smile plastered on my face. It was the coolest award EVER!
BUT I felt like something was missing in athletics. It wasn't until 2008 that I realized what had been missing from my fitness activities - a spiritual component. I found my answer. YOGA. 3 years after taking my first class, I certified to teach and haven't looked back. I started my first company, walkntalkwellness, LLC in 2013. A health coaching biz leading fitness classes, private health coaching sessions and neighborhood walks. The name changed to Fit Girl Seattle and I included retreats, seasonal detoxes and a signature program being released this year. I also added corporate yoga instructor during corporate retreats and events AND college instructor.
That's right, I've been hired to teach TWO five week courses at a college nearby. My income has doubled in the last two years and I've served more than 100+ women on their weight loss journeys. I reach women nationwide thru Skype and phone and meet local women in coffee shops in the winter, parks in the summer.
My clients have experienced:
Emotional shifts from Eeyore to Jane Fonda
Significant amounts of weight loss averaging from 5-20 pounds
Relationship improvements either with a romantic partner or with self
Having a better time in the kitchen - cooking healthier meals in less time
Deeper friendships with open communication
Trust in intuition + increased confidence
Release from shame and guilt
The ability to ask for what the heart and soul wants and needs
Understanding to food cravings + how to cure them
Lighter footsteps on earth and in the heart
Yoga poses for better digestion + sleep
"Aha" moments of clarity and direction
Job, relationship + physical transformation
After I spent 8 months traveling SE Asia being a teacher and finding every yoga place, I came back to the U.S. in 2009 with a burning passion to find health without pills and potions. I saw real world medicine come from plants and food and that became my mission.
I think you know my WHY. What is yours?
