If you have food allergies, I can almost guarantee finding desserts that contain no gluten, dairy and nuts is near impossible. And when I cut out sugar 5 years ago, I couldn't find a cookie that didn't taste like crap.
As a child, I had issues with dairy and often found myself in a doctor's office holding my stomach in crippling pain. And in 2009 as a 25 year old, I developed a severe peanut allergy that required steroids. This gave me a lot of anxiety around eating.
"What if these chips were dipped in peanut oil?"
I'll have to ask how food is prepared for the rest of my life. But I ain't cryin' about it, I'm just sharing what I've learned having lived with food allergies for the majority of my life.
I cut out gluten and sugar around the same time as the nut diagnosis. No more inflammatory foods for this girl.
I started experimenting with gluten, nut and dairy free ingredients to "clean 'em up a bit." I used natural sugars like coconut and date and experimented with xylitol. To read more about xylitol click here. If xylitol does not agree with your system, I'd suggest sticking to: date sugar, coconut sugar, honey or grade B maple syrup.
After experimenting, failing and succeeding, these are my TOP TEN favorite dessert recipes and they contain NO gluten, dairy or processed sugar! Only 1 recipe includes almonds, other than that, completely nut free too!
