How many times can you count on your fingers the amount of times that people have made decisions for you?
Have you been bossed around by a client or co-worker or are you the one bossing people around?
I've had a couple clients in the last 3 years who tried to tell me how to run my show. The ones who try to tell me how the sessions will go or how my marketing and social media should be portrayed.
Even friends who have tried to tell me how to speak or say things in a certain way.
It is the biggest turn off.
Not only do I remove these people as clients, but these friendships slowly fade away.
It's a tough life lesson to learn, but you have to remain the driver of your ship, your car, your plane, however you want to think of it.
When this happens, you need to go for a run/a workout class/write without filters.
At the beginning of my business and younger years, I would've let these people get away with it.
After years of working on standing my ground and knowing that I allow people how to treat me, I do not stick around for this kind of behavior - and neither should you.
I have a dear friend who had a friend who bossed her around for years! I'm talking bottle of the barrel stuff - unforgivable ways of trying to control her every move, putting her down non-stop and taking away her voice. That was until my friend had had enough. Friendship over.
This will happen.
If you surround yourself with people who will lift you up, cheer you on and give you honest feedback in an unconditional loving way, those people get to stay.
2015 was about letting go of feeling bad.
2016 is about standing ground + not wavering because you "feel bad."
