When I did the Healthy Girl Detox for the first time, it was Day 3 and I felt light like a feather. It was like a euphoric feeling - I felt how vegans look when they have really good skin. I felt like I was one of them.
On day 5, when the toxins had really cleared out, my hands weren't stiff and my body felt more limber. When I went to bed I dreamt about blueberry smoothies + quinoa energy bowls for breakfast.
A few days later, I was pulling on my workout pants and usually have to pull them up to my belly button to cover the little pooch. But one week in I didn't have one! All that inflammation from chips, salsa, protein bars and not enough water had disappeared. I started to realize what I had been doing to my body. My beautiful body that was given to me to nourish and take care of and I was loading it with crap.
On day 10 the color in my face was magnificent. My Mom stopped me on a walk and almost in a whisper said, "You are glowing. Is this from that detox you're always talking about? I want to do it!"
And so Mama did it, my Sister in law did it and about 25+ other women jumped on the detox band wagon. For a total of 14 days, we talked about increased energy, decreased belly bloat + the different kinds of food we were eating. A few talked about being tired, which I assumed was from detoxing, but came to find that they were not eating enough! The processed foods were replaced with veggies, clean proteins and delicious low sugar fruits. Some were not adding low glycemic carbs like brown rice/quinoa/sweet potatoes to their meals. I suggested to add a few in and within hours, they felt like a million bucks.
When people have questions, like, "I'm really hungry, am I doing something wrong?" I usually ask a few questions and answer with, "eat more." Don't complicate simplicity.
The last GROUP Detox of the Summer starts Thursday, August 27th + we'd love to have you.
