My Weight Loss Story

I was getting ready for the Dave Matthews Band concert at the Gorge and couldn't find anything that fit.  Every swimsuit I tried on was too small and there was no way in hell I was wearing shorts.  I said, "screw it" and put on a bikini with a long dress.  I have never felt more uncomfortable in my own body.  I was tipping the scale at 148 pounds, but having a curvy, proportionate body made it hard to see how much weight I had gained.  I was an expert at disguise, until I saw pictures of my face.  My sweet, plumped up face.

 

Before I reached my highest weight, I had gone through a decade long journey with an eating disorder.  It is still something only a few of my family members and friends know, well, until now.  But I am a truth promoter and this is part of my story.

I saw a counselor, hired a Holistic Health Coach and started to work.  Really, really work on myself.  I let myself indulge in former off limit foods  and didn't stop when I reached a certain serving size.  I went to town on cookies, ice cream and anything sugary.  I ate with no constraints and felt amazingly full, fat and happy.  Until I stepped on the scale and realized I had gained 18 pounds.  Whoops.  

So I worked with my Health Coach and she gave me a suggested meal plan filled with real food.  That is where the magic unfolded.  I ate all these delicious salads filled with lean protein and desserts made from fruits, like baked apples + blueberry parfait.  I lost 11 pounds in a few months.  And I got stuck at the 11 pound mark for a while, until I started AdvoCare.

AdvoCare helped me eat real food, but with a system.  I took supplements for the first time ever and felt amazing energy.  I took AdvoCare supplements and followed their meal plan  for one month and lost another 9 pounds!!  I was scared at how quickly I was losing weight because I didn't want it to be a quick fix.  That was more than 2 years ago.  And I haven't gained a pound back.

I then created the Healthy Girl Detox and lost another 2 pounds, for a total weight loss of 25 pounds.  But I wasn't trying to lose any weight with the Healthy Girl Detox, that happened from reducing inflammation in my body.  I created the detox so I wouldn't feel so tired all the time and my hands were hurting and felt stiff when I woke up.  I wanted to feel good in the morning, afternoon and night, so I did my research, worked with a Detox Specialist and created this program.

When people say, what did you do to lose all the weight, I tell them a combination of things.  Because the number decreasing on the scale is the beginning, but the real work comes from consistency. 

I love everything about my weight loss, the ups and downs, the methods and the outcome.  It was done the right way, no quick fix and I learned how to cook for my body.  I learned that food should be eaten to nourish + heal.  Food is amazing!  Have you ever tasted strawberries from a garden?  Aren't they delicious!?  If you incorporate fresh foods into your day, imagine how fresh you will feel!

SAMPLE MEAL PLAN:

Wake up: Lemon water + cayenne

Breakfast: Healthy Girl Detox Smoothie

Snack: Protein ball snack

Lunch: Big salad with lean protein or sweet potatoes + salad with avocado + lean protein

Snack: Veggies + hummus or another smoothie with different ingredients

Dinner: Soup with tons of veggies + chicken or fish + veggies

Dessert: Baked Apples or Quest Bar
