Ya know the worst thing? Success stories where people rise to fame and earn millions of dollars within a month. It is the most discouraging thing to hear if you are just starting out. It's like, "How can I build a 6 figure business like them?" And then you sign up for their program and you're in the same position, only thousands of dollars poorer.
As a entrepreneur who works from home + lives her life as an extroverted introvert, I watch a ton of videos and read a lot of books on EVERYTHING related to business, entrepreneurship, health, fitness, soul food, eating disorders, women prevailing regardless of the past. And the list goes on.
I believe that if you are not feeding your soul, the place that needs the most water + food, you will move on from your dreams. These dreams might seem too big so you bury them. You try to forget about them by glossing over and end up filling your dream tank with things that don't really matter, but society tells you that those things are important - so you listen.
I know because I did that for a long time. And I hate those videos where they tell you how to make 6 figures in a week. It's such bullshit. Hard work, time, seed planting, digging deep and investing in your success by planning, focusing, collaborations and DOING will get you there.
WANT THE SECRET RECIPE? HERE'S 3 INGREDIENTS:
FIGURE OUT YOUR DREAM!!! For the longest time I tried to fight my dream, that's what us ADD gals do. We switch from career to career, boy to boy, searching for the next best thing. We lose focus fast + because we reach that point of success, we move onto the next thing.
I remember when I was at a medical sales job + had the potential to make a lot of money. I was on the verge of being really good at something, but before I gave myself the chance to learn something I wasn't familiar with, I quit and went back to teaching yoga. My heart wasn't in the job, but if I could've stayed, pushed myself out of my comfort bubble a little more, I could've made more money to afford a 500 hour teacher training program. Another reminder to stay focused and grind so you can enjoy the things you love. Let the work you don't love fund your passion project before you dive right in.
BE PREPARED FOR THE SLOW TIMES. This happens more than anyone would like to admit. There were days last year where I'd wake up, eat breakfast, teach 1 class + wonder how to start my health coaching business. I had no idea how to start so I filled my days with everything but diving into my passion project.
Have other revenue streams. Get a part time job. Have some stable income or else you will start to resent what you've set out to do. And you might even give up - which sucks for the rest of us, because we'll never get to experience your unique talents!! This leads me to my next tip, the one I'm learning now, two years into building my health coaching biz.
HAVE A SYSTEM. It's tough if you have multiple jobs. I teach yoga + barre, have work as a fitness model and health coach 1 on 1, design offline + online programs + lead retreats. I also am the lead representative for Quest Nutrition and work occasional monthly events.
If you read what I wrote above, your eyes might be bulging or you are nodding your head because you are the same way. Again, this is called ADD. Not settling on one thing - but when I look at all the jobs, they are all connected, so it works. I have scheduled days and times I teach and if I can fit in fitness modeling and Quest Nutrition, I try to make it work. The other hours, I am health coaching, marketing, handling social media, designing my programs + launch dates. I have a system that works for you and you have to find one that works for you. Try a bunch of different systems, play around + I guarantee there is a system for you!
